Big Sky Resort Weddings: The Complete Venue Guide

Big Sky Resort Weddings take place at the base of Lone Peak (11,166 ft) in Big Sky, Montana — 45 minutes south of Bozeman. Multiple venue spaces across the resort, full-service catering, on-site lodging for your entire guest list, capacity up to 450 across all spaces. Venue fees start at $5,250 for 50 guests. One of the few Montana venues that handles everything in a single place, including an elopement package at the Summit Hotel.

I’ve photographed weddings at Big Sky Resort, and there’s a reason it keeps ending up on couples’ shortlists. You’ve got Lone Peak at 11,166 feet as your backdrop, seven different venue spaces, full-service catering, and on-site lodging for your entire guest list. It’s one of the few venues in Montana where you can legitimately host everything — ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner, and a full weekend of activities — without anyone needing to drive anywhere.

Big Sky Resort is located between Bozeman (about 45 minutes) and Yellowstone National Park, in the Mountain Village at the base of Lone Peak.

Venue Spaces

Big Sky has more venue options than almost any other wedding spot in Montana. Here’s what you’re working with:

Vista Hall & Deck

The biggest and newest space. Vista Hall seats up to 400 guests and features exposed beams, fireplaces, and large retractable garage doors that open to an expansive deck. Views of Lone Mountain and the Spanish Peaks from both inside and out. If you want a big wedding with a modern mountain feel, this is it.

  • Rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception
  • Up to 400 seated guests
  • Indoor + outdoor deck space

Huntley Dining Room

A warm, rustic-elegant space with floor-to-ceiling windows along the entire western wall looking straight at Lone Peak. Seats up to 240 guests. Great for couples who want that classic Montana lodge feel.

Talus Room

Located in the Summit Hotel, the Talus Room is simple and elegant with views of the Spanish Peaks Range. Seats 100 for dinner or 200 theater-style for a ceremony. Pairs well with the Peaks Terrace in summer if you want to split your ceremony and reception between two spaces.

Peaks Restaurant & Terrace

One of the most unique setups — both indoor and outdoor space with Lone Peak towering directly behind you. Seats 80 for a plated dinner, or up to 130 for a terrace ceremony. Summer only. The Peaks Chophouse & Wine Lounge is also available for smaller gatherings.

Everett’s 8800

This is the one that makes Big Sky different from every other venue in Montana. Everett’s sits at 8,800 feet on top of Andesite Mountain with panoramic views. Seats 70–100 guests. Summer only. If you want your guests talking about the rehearsal dinner for years, this is how you do it.

Missouri Ballroom

Features a large river rock fireplace and a built-in stage — great for couples who want live music or a band at their reception.

Big Sky Resort Golf Course

Located in the Meadow Village, the golf course offers an intimate outdoor ceremony spot with Lone Peak views. Up to 50 guests. Perfect for elopements or very small weddings.

Pricing

Big Sky Resort venue fees start at $5,250 for 50 guests and go up from there depending on which space you choose. Vista Hall & Deck is the premium option. All prices are separate from food and beverage minimums.

For current rates, contact the resort’s weddings team directly — pricing changes seasonally.

Elopement Package: “Just the Two of Us”

Big Sky also offers an elopement package that includes:

  • 2-night stay at the Summit Hotel
  • $200 dining credit at Peaks Chophouse or Chet’s Bar & Grille
  • Lift tickets or a round of golf for two
  • Signature Escape spa package for two at Solace Spa
  • Help finding a ceremony location and officiant

Contact the resort for seasonal pricing.

What’s Included

Big Sky is a full-service venue. You get:

  • In-house catering (buffet, plated, family-style, cocktail, or action stations)
  • Full bar service
  • Tables, chairs, ceremony chairs, linens, silverware, glassware
  • Audio equipment, dance floor, podium/stage
  • Bridal suite
  • Venue setup and cleanup
  • Customized menu tasting
  • On-site lodging at multiple resort properties
  • Solace Spa & Salon on-site

Note: All food, beverage, and alcohol must go through the resort — no outside catering or alcohol allowed. Music ends at midnight.

Where to Get the Best Photos

Big Sky Resort has some of the best photo access of any venue I’ve shot at. The chairlifts give you and your wedding party access to spots on the mountain where you can get views of Lone Peak and Gallatin Canyon that most people only see on a ski run. There are tons of great spots up there, and the variety of mountain terrain means every season looks completely different.
