Buck’s T4 Lodge Big Sky: Elegant Weddings & Events in Montana’s Mountains

Bucks T4 By Charles Moll Photography

Buck’s T4 Lodge (Now Buck’s Roadhouse) | Big Sky Wedding Venue

If you’ve been looking at Big Sky wedding venues, you’ve probably come across Buck’s T4. Here’s the big news — after closing in 2023, Buck’s has reopened as Buck’s Roadhouse under new management with major property upgrades. The good news? The wedding garden, the dancehall, and the on-site hotel are all still there — and they’ve brought in an executive chef with James Beard Foundation recognition. I’ve photographed weddings at this venue and it’s one of the most unique spots in the canyon. Here’s what couples need to know.

What’s Changed

Buck’s T4 was purchased by Lone Mountain Land Company and reopened in late 2025 with the One&Only Moonlight Basin hospitality group running operations. The property got a full renovation — new windows, plumbing, carpeting, furniture, and fire safety upgrades throughout. They’ve also added a pizza saloon, game room, and live music on Thursday nights. The bones of the venue are the same, but the whole property feels refreshed.

Wedding Spaces

The Wedding Garden

This is the ceremony spot, and it’s one of my favorites in Big Sky. It features native Montana plants, a running stream, two waterfalls, and a wooden bridge that serves as the focal point for the bridal entrance. It’s intimate without feeling cramped, and the natural landscaping means you don’t need much in the way of decoration.

The Dancehall

For receptions, the dancehall (formerly the Montana Room) has exposed wooden beams, hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and custom track lighting. There’s a built-in stage that can fit a full band. This room has serious character — it’s been the heart of Buck’s since the 1970s when it was the most popular dance venue in Montana.

Food & Bar

This is where the reopening really matters. Executive Chef Chuck Schommer brings James Beard Foundation recognition to your wedding menu. All food and beverage is handled in-house — options include buffet, plated, family style, stations, and butler-passed hors d’oeuvres. The wine program has held Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence since 1995 with over 175 selections. No outside catering or alcohol allowed, but honestly with this kitchen you won’t want it.

Lodging

Buck’s has hotel rooms on-site, which is a huge plus for a Big Sky wedding. Your guests can walk from the ceremony to the reception to their room without getting in a car. The property is also pet-friendly, so guests traveling with dogs don’t have to worry about boarding.

Costs

Since Buck’s just reopened under new management, pricing has likely changed from what’s listed on older wedding directories. Previously, the venue fee started around $2,000 during peak season, with typical wedding totals ranging from $9,000–$12,000. For current pricing, contact the events team directly at events@bucksbigsky.com or 406-995-2825. I’d recommend reaching out early — this venue will book fast now that it’s back.

Where to Get the Best Photos

The wedding garden is gorgeous for ceremony shots, but my favorite thing about Buck’s is the surrounding landscape. You’re right in the Gallatin Canyon with access to the river and mountain views in every direction. The wooden bridge in the garden makes for a great couples portrait spot, and the dancehall’s character gives you moody, atmospheric reception photos. If you’re open to a quick walk, there are incredible sunset views along the canyon.
