The Woodlands at Cottonwood Canyon is the ideal venue for weddings of all shapes and sizes. It first opened in 2004 and has been welcoming couples since this day for weddings, receptions, and gatherings of any type. The venue has a timeless quality, offering some of Montana’s finest hospitality and an old-world style. To this date, The Woodlands has hosted over 1,000 events and aims to be a location that families will return to over and over again for future celebrations.
Elsa is the founder and owner of The Woodlands and uses her twenty years of experience as a wedding coordinator and planner to create intentional ceremonies for her guests. As someone who was born and raised in Bozeman, she loves welcoming couples from across the country who are looking to escape it all and celebrate their love for one another in a unique setting.
Hosting Weddings at The Woodlands
The Woodlands at Cottonwood Canyon is a versatile events venue that would be ideal for your Bozeman wedding venue. There is room for up to 175 people, making it suitable for a larger reception or family event. The lush meadow is the ideal backdrop for outdoor weddings, which are incredibly popular here in the spring and summer.

The majority of couples who get married at the Woodlands opt to have their weddings in the meadow. This location allows for couples to either orient their wedding to have a forest backdrop or a mountain backdrop.
As someone who has shot a lot of weddings here in the summer months, it is important to note that the mead gets HOT. With the long days of summer there is really no way around this unless you want to have a 7pm or 8pm ceremony.
As you can see in the photo above the sun will come from in from the right side making it especially hot for the partner on the left. While you can choose a different orientation for your ceremony, you will get the best views with the orientation in the image above.
Wedding Facilities at The Woodlands at Cottonwood Canyon
The Great Room sits up to 175 people and is ideal for hosting your wedding reception. We know that a big concern about booking an outdoor wedding is a change in the weather forecast. However, The Great Room is the perfect backup plan and will ensure your wedding ceremony goes ahead with no delays.
Many guests opt to use The Patio for a cocktail hour or first dance, and it’s great for a summer wedding where you are looking to spend as much time as possible outdoors. The bride will enjoy getting ready in The Loft Bridal Suite, whereas the groom and his party have a comfortable dressing room and games lounge.
Of all the venues I have photographed, I would have to say the woodlands does have some of the best getting ready spaces for both partners.
Following the big day, you’ll want to book a night in The Honeymoon Cabin, where you can fully relax while immersing yourself in the sounds and sights of Cottonwood Creek. There is also a guest cabin next door, which is ideal for another couple or family member to stay the night.

Wedding Package Options
As with any wedding venue, the pricing for your wedding ceremony will depend on your personal requirements. There are a range of packages to suit all budgets and needs and will work with you to plan your perfect day.
The Complete Package starts at $7,000 and offers all of the basics you would need, and provides you with full all-day facilities rental.
You can upgrade from there to the Deluxe Package, which is priced from $8,000, and offers you additional personalization and upgrades. Many guests today are looking for a more intimate ceremony or elopement. These are offered from Monday to Wednesday for $6,000. Keep in mind, you can create a customized package, which can be fully tailored to create your dream wedding.
