Hardscrabble Ranch is a mountain wedding venue 20 minutes north of Bozeman on Brackett Creek Road. Outdoor ceremony site with Ross Peak as the backdrop, 200+ event capacity and overnight accommodations for up to 54 guests across lodges and glamping tents. Venue rental is $5,000–$6,000 depending on season. A 100-guest wedding with lodging is typically $7,000–$8,000+ all in.
Hardscrabble Ranch: Photos & Pricing (2026)
I’ve shot weddings at Hardscrabble Ranch a few times now, and it’s one of those venues that just makes my job easy. The mountains, the open space, the light at sunset — it all just works.
The ranch sits about 20 minutes north of Bozeman on Brackett Creek Road. It’s close enough that your guests aren’t driving an hour into the wilderness, but remote enough that it actually feels like Montana. Ross Peak is right there behind everything, and it makes for the kind of backdrop you don’t have to think about.

What the Space Is Like
Hardscrabble Ranch is 78 acres with a 4,800 square foot barn, two lodges, 15 glamping tents along the creek, and a newly renovated space called The Hideaway that works well for bridal party prep or as an extra rental.
The barn is black-sided and has a dance floor inside — it’s got a clean, modern feel compared to the typical rustic barn venue. Outside, there’s a main lawn for ceremonies with mountain views, an outdoor patio, a cooking area, a fire pit, and about two miles of trails. Brackett Creek runs right through the property.
One thing I always mention to couples considering Hardscrabble — Bridger Bowl is right up the road. If you want an intimate mountaintop elopement ceremony and then a bigger reception at the ranch, you can do both in the same day. That combo is hard to beat.
What’s Included
This is where Hardscrabble stands out from a lot of venues. The site fee includes:
- Tables, chairs, and place settings for up to 150 guests
- A wedding arch
- Audio equipment and a dance floor
- Setup and parking
That matters more than most couples realize. At venues that don’t include tables and chairs, you’re looking at $1,500–$3,000+ in rentals on top of your venue fee. Hardscrabble rolls it in.
They also offer an on-site event planner and a curated vendor list, which is helpful if you’re planning from out of state.

Capacity & Accommodations
The ranch can handle 200+ guests for the event itself. For overnight stays, you’ve got a few options:
- Two lodges (Brackett and Bridger) — each sleeps up to 24 guests. Eleven bedrooms, six bathrooms, full kitchens, living spaces, and a game room between them.
- 15 glamping tents — set up along Brackett Creek with king beds, covered decks, and Adirondack chairs. Available in summer, starting at $250/tent.
- The Hideaway — a private rental that works for bridal prep or overnight stays.
Total overnight capacity is around 54 guests, which makes it a legit weekend-wedding destination.

Best Photo Spots
As a photographer who’s shot here multiple times, these are the spots I’d point you toward:
- The bridal suite in the main house — white walls, tons of natural light, and spacious. It’s honestly one of the best getting-ready rooms I’ve photographed anywhere. Your hair and makeup team will love it too.
- The tall grass behind the main lawn — this is the spot. Ross Peak fills the background, and at sunset the light is unreal. This is where you’ll get the photos that make people ask “where was that?”
- The main lawn — where most ceremonies happen, with the mountains right behind you. Clean and open.
- Brackett Creek — great for portraits or a first look. The water and the trees give you natural framing without needing anything staged.
- After dark — Hardscrabble has very little light pollution, which means you can actually see the stars. If you’re up for staying out 20 minutes after the reception, the night sky shots out here are epic.
