Amber & Hunter: A Blackfoot Brewery Ceremony and a Grizzly Gardens Reception

Amber and Hunter got married on Thursday, May 28, 2026. It was the same date as their first date, and it landed on a Thursday again. They held the ceremony at Blackfoot Brewery, moved the party to Grizzly Gardens in Helena, and when I asked for one word for how they wanted the day to feel, they gave me exactly one: happy.
A brewery, from the very first date
They met on Bumble, and their first date was at a brewery in Libby, Montana. Their favorite date night spots now are Blackfoot Brewery and the Windbag Saloon. Their ideal night out, in their words: “Go out for a beer or two, go to dinner after, come home and watch a movie, then go to bed.” So a brewery ceremony made a lot of sense.

The proposal
Hunter carved “Will you marry me” into an elk antler with a Dremel tool. After work one day, he set out game cameras and the antler at one of their hunting spots, then took Amber out shed hunting and led her to it. As Amber put it: “I thought I found a shed, but I ended up getting a fiancé.”
The ceremony at Blackfoot Brewery

They said their vows in the morning, before Blackfoot opened its doors for the day. They skipped the first look. They also asked for no cell phone photos during the ceremony, because people on their phones is one of their biggest wedding pet peeves.

Their officiant was Trevor, one of the people they named as a big support in their lives, along with his wife Lindsay. The ceremony included fletching an arrow, and it ended with a cheers with their guests. Their dog Willow was part of the wedding party, and her one instruction for me was simple: get Willow smiling on her way down the aisle.

Instead of a receiving line, they walked out and had a cheers with everyone.

Fun over formal
Traditional look-at-the-camera photos were “not as important” to these two. What they wanted from their portraits was “fun, goofy, and smiling,” and the moments that mattered most were “real moments of us having a good time with friends and family.”
They had a short list of places they wanted photos: in front of their ceremony arch, with the Blackfoot Brewery sign, a cheers with their glasses at Blackfoot, and Grizzly Gardens.

The reception at Grizzly Gardens

From the brewery, everyone headed out to Grizzly Gardens for family photos, cocktail hour and the rest of the celebration. The best man and the maid of honor gave their speeches during dinner, with Ryan Eggensperger running the music and emceeing the night. Their first dance was “Porch Swing Angel (Fifth Anniversary)” by Muscadine Bloodline, which also happens to be Hunter’s favorite band.

When I asked Amber and Hunter what they wanted from their photos, their answer was the best kind of simple: “All the good times are captured.”
